Licensing
Cycling knowledge should be open. Everything on whereto.bike is freely licensed so anyone can use it, build on it, and share it.
Text and descriptions
Section titled “Text and descriptions”All written content uses Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 — the same license Wikipedia uses. You can copy, adapt, and share it freely, as long as you credit the source and keep your version open too.
Route data
Section titled “Route data”GPS tracks and route information use the Open Database License 1.0 — the same license OpenStreetMap uses. Use the data however you like, including commercially. If you improve the dataset, share those improvements.
Photos
Section titled “Photos”Photo contributors choose their own license when uploading:
- CC BY-SA 4.0 — share alike (default)
- CC BY 4.0 — attribution only
- CC0 — public domain dedication
Source code
Section titled “Source code”The platform code is AGPL 3.0. If you run a modified version as a public service, you share your modifications under the same license. This keeps the platform open for everyone.
