Licensing

Cycling knowledge should be open. Everything on whereto.bike is freely licensed so anyone can use it, build on it, and share it.

All written content uses Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 — the same license Wikipedia uses. You can copy, adapt, and share it freely, as long as you credit the source and keep your version open too.

GPS tracks and route information use the Open Database License 1.0 — the same license OpenStreetMap uses. Use the data however you like, including commercially. If you improve the dataset, share those improvements.

Photo contributors choose their own license when uploading:

  • CC BY-SA 4.0 — share alike (default)
  • CC BY 4.0 — attribution only
  • CC0 — public domain dedication

The platform code is AGPL 3.0. If you run a modified version as a public service, you share your modifications under the same license. This keeps the platform open for everyone.
