Adding routes
Every route starts with a GPS track. Record your ride, then share it with the community.
Create a new route
Section titled “Create a new route”- Go to the admin panel and tap + New route.
- Drop a GPX file onto the upload area, or click to browse your files.
- The route name and URL are pre-filled from the filename. Edit them if you’d like.
- Tap Create Route.
You’ll land in the full route editor with your GPS track already loaded.
Import from RideWithGPS
Section titled “Import from RideWithGPS”If your route is on RideWithGPS, you can import it directly:
- On the new route page, tap or import from Ride with GPS.
- Paste the RideWithGPS URL.
- Tap Import.
The GPS track is imported automatically. No file download needed.
Fill in the details
Section titled “Fill in the details”Once your route is created, the editor has everything you need:
- Name — The route’s display name.
- Tagline — A short one-liner that appears on route cards. Something like “Quiet riverside path through the Arboretum.”
- Tags — Start typing to see suggestions from existing tags. Press Enter or comma to add.
- Description — Write as much or as little as you want. Supports Markdown formatting.
Add photos
Section titled “Add photos”The best way to show what a route is like. Drag photos anywhere onto the page, or use the upload area in the Photos section.
- Drag photos to reorder them.
- Tap the star to set the cover photo (the one that appears on route cards).
- Add captions to give context — “View from the lookout” or “The gravel section near Hog’s Back.”

Add route options
Section titled “Add route options”Some routes have variations — a short loop and a long loop, or different directions. Each variation is called a route option, and each has its own GPS track.
- Your first GPX file becomes the main route option.
- To add more, tap + Add option below the route options list and upload another GPX file (or import from RideWithGPS).
- Each option has its own name, distance, and optional links to Strava or RideWithGPS.
- Drag to reorder.
Save and publish
Section titled “Save and publish”New routes start as drafts — visible in the editor but not on the public site. When you’re happy with it, an admin can change the status to Published.
Tap Save when you’re done. Your route will be live after the next site rebuild.
